After nine years of anticipation, Royal Kunia Country Club opened its doors to the public on April 4. The 18-hole course designed by Robin Nelson has been called "the best course in Hawaii nobody played." Green fees are $125 for weekday play and $135 for weekends. Puakea Golf Course on Kaua'i has been undergoing an aggressive renovation converting the 10-hole course into a complete 18-hole layout. The full 18 holes are scheduled to open in July 2003. Robin Nelson, who also designed the first 10 holes, is handling the completion of the course.

The dates of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf on Kaua'i have been changed to December 4-6, 2003. The event puts the four major championship winners head-to-head in a two-day stroke play event. For tickets or more information, please call (800) 858-6300.

Princeville's Prince Course on Kaua'i and Mauna Kea Golf Course on the Big Island again made Golf Digest magazine's list of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses. Prince Course ranked 73rd overall and Mauna Kea Golf Course ranked 84th overall. The courses were designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Robert Trent Jones respectively.

Four Hawaii resort courses made GolfWeek's seventh annual list of America's 100 Best Modern Courses. They are Princeville's Prince Course on Kaua'i, followed by Kapalua Plantation Course on Maui, Mauna Kea Golf Course on the Big Island, and The Challenge at Manele Bay on Lana'i.
